Equipment to be supplied when connecting a swimming pool:

An in-ground or above-ground pool may include several electrical components:

  • nearby electric subpanel
  • water and filtration pump
  • electric water heater (heat pump)
  • salt or chlorine system
  • submersible low-voltage lighting
  • sockets for general use

Each piece of equipment requires its own protected circuit.

Safety and compliance:

The electrical connection of a swimming pool is subject to strict rules. These include:

  • minimum distance between pool and electrical equipment
  • minimum distance between pool and overhead and underground power lines
  • protection DDFT
  • proper grounding
  • dedicated circuits according to equipment power

Among other things, articles 68-058 and 68-064 of the code stipulate:

The continuity of the reinforcing steel masses of an in-ground pool must be ensured by at least four connections evenly distributed around the perimeter.

Sockets must not be installed closer than 1.5m from the inside walls of swimming pools.

Main electrical panel capacity:

In some cases, an upgrade of the electrical panel may be necessary, particularly if:

  • The panel is already fully charged
  • it’s a panel with a capacity below 200A
  • several energy-intensive devices have already been installed
